about

At a glance ‘Tswana Renaissance Art’ is another Hip Hop collaboration between two great Artists, crossing over sections of fan bases and reaffirming the synergy in values that always existed for others. In their home market of Botswana Nomadic and Zeus are easily the most elite Wordsmiths that have managed to not only move Underground Lyricist circles but breakthrough mainstream markets and leave a footprint in other prominent African Hip Hop scenes including the highly competitive South African landscape. But if you take a closer listen, you will realise that from the very beginning of the project you are immersed in a unique blend of Cultures, Visions, Archives and Prophecies. The title of the project speaks clearly to a reawakening of Tswana Identity through a reimagining of how we express said Identity as Contemporary Batswana.

The inspiration of Folk Tales, Idioms, Poems, Folk Songs, Motswako Rap, Traditional skins and Fashion, Healers and Mediums, Architects and Farmers as well as all other elements of the tribes we were, have been and are becoming found it’s way into a hybrid blend of Classic Boom Bap Rap, Setswana Folk, New Age Hip Hop, RnB Soul and Jazz Sounds. Celebrating each other’s greatness as well as the greatness of the legacy they carry, Zeus and Nomadic have packaged a commodity that those within and associated with our tribes from Southern Zambia to the Mountains of Lesotho will understand… The beautiful combination that is Tswana Pride and Humility!
